In response to a friend’s hope to spruce up his backyard with a bocce court and dining area, a landscape design was developed to act as an exterior living room that ties into the program of the home through a large glass opening in the rear masonry. The yard leads to the basement which was dug out in order to increase ceiling height and make for a more habitable and bright subterranean experience. Exacting attention was paid to each of the millwork pieces designed by Silvestro Design Operations and Zach Graham and fabricated locally with Polish and Italian craftsmen. The powder-coated steel and walnut stools were designed and built as a collaboration between architect, owner, and M Fabrication.
